Although the Canyon Elevation Standard and Elevation are great entry-level luxury models, and the AT4 adds a few extra interior perks, for the most premium design and features the 2022 GMC Canyon has to offer, you’re going to want to go with the top-level Denali trim. It receives an upper-class exterior with a chrome grille, assist steps, and other chrome accents throughout the truck as well. The smallest Canyon engine is the gas-powered 2.5L 4-cylinder motor, which is standard with any of the two-wheel drive models other than the two-wheel drive Canyon Denali. The desirable gas-powered 3.6L 6-cylinder engine is available with all trim levels and comes standard with both drivetrains on the Denali and all four-wheel drive Canyons. However, if you decide to opt for more horsepower and torque, the 6-cylinder ending is a close second, with an estimated fuel economy of 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway in two-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive will get you 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway. As with most vehicles available with a diesel engine, you’ll get the best fuel economy and towing power from the turbo-diesel Canyon, getting 20 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway with two-wheel drive and 19 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway with four-wheel drive, along with a towing capacity of up to 7,700 lbs.

The base Elevation Standard model is equipped with the least amount of technology, with a 7-inch infotainment center that doesn’t include Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility like all the other trims offer, which are displayed on an 8-inch infotainment center screen with available navigation. However, a SiriusXM satellite radio trial does come standard with every Canyon, so if AM/FM radio isn’t your thing, you’ll have a couple of months to try out satellite radio through the 6-speaker audio system in the Canyon Elevation Standard.
Moving on from the base model, you’ll find a lot more entertainment and connectivity features available, with the Denali being the richest in technology. It comes standard with the upgraded 7-speaker premium Bose audio system and HD Radio for clearer radio quality, both of which are available for the other trim levels, except the Elevation Standard model. All but the base model Canyons also have Wi-Fi hotspot capability, making it easier for you to stay connected and your passengers entertained no matter where the road takes you, streaming their favorite movies or playing their favorite music.
To keep all of your smartphone and other streaming devices charged while out on the road, the base model Canyon has two front USB ports to use. All other trims come with two additional USB ports in the rear seat. If you opt for one of the two top-level trims, wireless charging becomes an option for you as well.
