In 2022, Buick unveiled its newest vehicle, The Buick Envista. At first, sold only in China, the Envista was introduced to the United States a year later. While industry professionals and consumers are eager to test out these first couple of Envista models and see if they live up to Buick’s expectations, it’s important to remember that once upon a time, Buick’s other vehicles were also new. Though some have retired, others have remained popular. It’s not clear yet where the Envista will land on the gone too soon or popular classic, but what we do know is that the Envista is a one-of-a-kind, GM’s first crossover coupe in existence.

Buick’s crossover coupe is built to resemble the sporty, athletic SUV line but has kept the drivability and comfort of a sedan. There may have been vehicles from other automotive brands that could technically fit this description, but Buick is the first to label a vehicle in this way. Will it usher in a new wave of vehicle designs? Are people going to prefer the crossover coupe to a compact SUV? We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, there’s plenty to consider if you’re looking for a Buick Envista for sale. For Charlotte drivers looking to see how this newer model compares to the established Buick lineup, visit us here at Williams Buick GMC, and our dedicated team will show you how this impressive crossover stacks up against its other Buick SUV counterparts.

Meet the Buick Envista

The Envista began its life via the inspiration of the Buick Wildcat, an all-electric concept car Buick created to give consumers a peek at the future of Buick. With its Art Deco-style shape, vintage style, and futuristic components, it’s an excellent example of how one can meld past, present, and future to create something entirely new. The Buick Wildcat and Buick Envista designs were cemented earlier, but both debuted in 2022. The Envista went up for sale in China, and in 2023, the production of the American Envista began in South Korea. Upon arriving in the US, the Envista was a sensation, a different type of vehicle for the driver of the future.

As an entry-level Buick, the Envista is affordable for most consumers and will likely draw many younger and older drivers in with its combination of style, features, size, and price. Ideal for the small family or solo professional, the Envista has everything you need to keep everyone safe and entertained, and you’ll have so much fun driving that you may never want to reach your destination. Driving is supposed to be enjoyable, and the Envista, for its practicality and affordability, is also an incredibly fun ride, which can be a nice change from the humdrum of everyday life we find ourselves in occasionally.

Spice things up a little and put the pedal to the metal with the Envista; you’ll remember how much you love driving. Whether you’re looking for a bigger vehicle for a growing family, or you want a newer, more stylish vehicle, or you’ve come to the realization that your current vehicle might be on its last leg, then you’ll want to put the Buick Envista at the top of your list.

How Does the Envista Compare to Other Buick Models?

Size

So how does the Envista measure up against Buick’s other vehicles? Buick offers the following models to consumers: the Envision, a compact crossover; the Encore, a small SUV; the Enclave, a midsize SUV; and now, the Envista. From crossover coupes to midsize SUVs, these vehicles are all built with a specific clientele in mind; drivers who appreciate the fine craftsmanship and luxury features but also care about making practical choices.

The Envista’s wheelbase measures 106.3 inches, with an overall measurement of 182.6 inches, or just over 11 inches longer than the Buick Encore GX. Higher up than regular sedans and longer than a small SUV, the Envista is built to impress, combining the best of both automobile designs to become a radical new hybrid. While smaller than the rest of the Buick SUVs, the Envista still manages to blend in with its new family, adhering to Buick’s commitment to producing quality vehicles that will undoubtedly continue to evolve for many model years to come.

Powertrain

The new Buick Envista will come equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder engine and a six-speed transmission, in contrast to the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine in the Envision, the 1.4L 4-cylinder engine of the Encore, or the 3.6L V6 engine of the Enclave. The other Buick models have a mix of nine-speed and continuously variable (CVT) transmissions, depending on availability, trim level, model, and year, compared to the Envista’s six-speed transmission. While these may not appear to be incredibly powerful, these are not vehicles meant for the rugged outdoors or backwoods terrain.

Buick vehicles are city and suburb vehicles for single professionals and small families and therefore require a finer, more subdued engine that’s still fun to drive, offering the perfect amount of power to navigate busy downtown streets. The Envista is particularly suited to city driving due to its higher stance, efficiency, and comfort. If you’re looking for a new commuter, the Envista is definitely worth checking out.

Features

While features will vary from year to year as Buick continuously updates technology and materials, recent Buicks all have excellent warranties, high-quality tech, and spaciousness for all those boxes, groceries, and work supplies. All Buicks have an infotainment center, a stereo system, extra perks, and plenty of storage space. The Envista comes in three trim levels; the Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir, similar to the Buick SUVs, where the Avenir is the highest trim level, and sporty trim levels are available for those looking for something a bit more exciting.

Buick is known to have premium tech and safety features, as well as warranties that extend beyond their competitors and include a complimentary maintenance visit. Standard safety and driver assistance features, courtesy of the Buick Driver Confidence, include things like the Following Distance Indicator, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, integrated cameras, and more. Even though the Envista is a coupe, it matches the larger vehicles’ safety measures, ensuring that every time you drive, you, your passengers and cargo, and those outside your vehicle remain safe, no matter what. You’ll also be able to keep everyone entertained from point A to point B with the infotainment center and stereo system, whether you’re listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.
